The world is a big place. Anything can happen, anywhere, at any time. This article is not meant as a definitive guide on how to travel the world but here are a few pointers.

Even the best travel websites often overlook these fundamental tips.

Learn English

French just doesn’t cut it anymore and Chinese, while spoken by more people, is essentially useless outside of that country. To explore the world, English will allow you to converse with the widest variety of people from Somali pirates to Himalayan Sherpas. Do not discount the value of conversation in any social situation.

Be Polite and Stay Safe

Removing yourself from a dangerous situation is a talent that must be learned. Explore the world, if you must, but stay away from its seamiest elements. Civility should always be observed when in an unknown environment. As someone once observed, “The less said, the better.”

Carry $300 but Have Credit Cards

Never flash a wad of bills, even if they are singles. Instead, three solitary $100 bills are preferable. If possible, remember one of your bank debit numbers so that you always have ready access to cash.

Remember the Important Phone Numbers

The advent of cell phones has caused people to forget the most important of numbers. Most people don’t remember their own phone number, much less their attorney’s or their next of kin.

Retrieve and memorize the most important phone numbers in your life. They are the phone number to your closest next of kin, the number to your attorney and the number to the American embassy.

Have you ever wanted to be one of world traveller? There is always this desire in us to travel the world and to experience new things. At least once in their lifetime, everyone desires to go to a new country and see what life there has to offer them.

Yet why do so few people actually get up and go? The answer may be that for most people there is simply not that option to quit a job or leave a career and go on an adventure living and working overseas, but this does not need to be the case as there are those who are finding that work and travel does mix and offer a real lifestyle for the more daring kind.

If you want to work while traveling, there are some options for you to consider. Probably the easiest type of employment would be working as a travel writer. Writing about your travels and experiences along the way and getting paid for it sounds appealing to many people, and one doesn’t have to be a Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist to do this well. You work whenever you want and wherever your travels take you. Of course there is the obvious choice of working as an airline attendant. Some may think this to be an exciting career, but for others this may not be a good option.

Some of the more unorthodox possibilities would be to work as a courier for a security company, becoming an air marshal, and getting a job doing just about anything on a cruise ship. With the demand for English instruction one of the best options would be to teach English. There are many sites on the Internet that offer tips for work and travel and this site is just one of them: http://www.whitecollarvagabond.com.

India is one stop destination for one and many. Time and again, many travel across India for different reasons. Tours to India through experienced travel agents are regarded safer than traveling alone for the first time in a land where diversity is available in ample amount. Things to be kept in mind before plunging on to the trip are the number of days to be taken out for this vast sub-continent. This will automatically decide the number of places a tourist can visit in the stipulated time.

The weather also plays an important role in deciding the places of the visit. The country undergoes several extreme temperatures at different climatic zones. Before stepping out of your home you need to know what weather conditions would be faced. It is only then one can decide about the kind of clothes to pick for the entire tour.

The entire trip should be based on the traveler’s interests and hobbies. If somebody likes adventure and is a nature freak then he should go for a package that includes wild life trips, safaris and the like. A newly married couple can go for Romantic honeymoon package specially designed for the couples.

The area of the Indian sub-continent is huge and therefore it is impossible to travel to this piece of land within a short duration of time. A traveler needs to be clear about the part of India he is interested to explore. Visiting North India, South India, Western India, Eastern India and Central India would require proper planning and strategizing of the whole trip. Besides segregating India into geographical divisions, one can choose the place to visit according to needs and requirements. These packages are already formed but can be personalized according to the needs and fancy of the traveler.

A tourist can opt for many programs ranging from Beach holidays in Goa to Desert holidays in Rajasthan. Adventurous people can visit many places like Arunachal Pradesh for a safari, best of Himachal, safari on a camel, elephant safari and a horse safari. This package might include expedition in Himalayas and a jeep safari from Manali to Leh. For spiritually inclined travelers or people who want to unravel the mystery of the union with God should prefer a special tour package that might include yoga and meditation tour, a trip to Orissa and Ayurveda tour. Taj Mahal tour includes, as the name suggests, a visit to the magnificent Taj Mahal- a symbol of love; and various other nearby places which might include the capital of the country-Delhi and the pink city-Jaipur.

One of the most romantic trips for any couple or even a solo traveler who is romantic at heart would be to sail in the houseboat in paradise, Srinagar. Dal Lake and Nagin Lake in Srinagar would be the best choice to experience bliss while floating on the boat which is covered slightly by a roof-top.

Booking a tour with an expert travel agent is always considered handy because it includes booking of the hotels and meals, transport and the required halts.

Detroit is home to “The Big 3″ and “Motown” after all. I don’t care how much negative press you’ve heard about the city, don’t tell me that you haven’t driven a Big 3 car or been in love with a Motown song. The city’s current decline is certainly no reason not to visit. Just be sure to keep your doors locked.(That was a joke, by the way).

Reason # 2 The Weather

Depending on who you ask, this may be a pro or a con. Michigan’s weather, and perhaps the Midwest’s as a whole, is probably unlike anything you’ve ever felt. Only in this region will you be wearing shorts and short-sleeve shirts one day, and shivering with a jacket on the next. It can be truly confusing, but I think that’s what makes our little section of America unique. After all, you can’t really enjoy a place until you’ve seen its best and its worst.
Ads by Google

Reason # 3 The Universities

Michigan is certainly home to some of the nation’s best schools. Maybe the U.S. News and World Report will tell you different, but don’t be deceived. John Kennedy once referred to Harvard as the “Michigan of the East”; a true testament to the school’s academic caliber.

But the University of Michgan isn’t alone. There’s also Michigan State University, Wayne State University, Central Michigan University, Lawrence Technological University, and a whole host of other “‘region name here’-Michigan-University”s.

Reason # 4 The Great Lakes

The Midwestern region is home to some of the most beautiful lakes you will ever encounter. One’s breath will instantly melt away while standing on a warm Michigan beach and staring out onto the lovely water of your favorite lake. This reason may trump the rest.

Reason # 5 The Sports Teams

So, the Detroit Lions haven’t done so well in the past few years. The Tigers almost made it to the World Series this year. The NBA is in the middle of a lockout, so we won’t mention the Detroit Pistons. The Red Wings are probably the most consistent team we have, and although I don’t follow hockey, it seems like they’re winning the Stanley Cup every other year.

Plus, there are all of the college teams – the Big House (University of Michigan) is one of the most popular sporting venues in the country.

My favorite place in Michigan is Traverse City. It’s a favorite tourist destination and has some world-class scenery.

The water has always been fascinating to us as it occupies 70% of the Earth’s surface. This is why water is always alternative landscape and viewpoint. Dubai has a vast and varied landscape for tourists. Other than the sea, the Dubai Creek and Dubai Marina have grown to be important waterscapes for the cities development and interest.

Tourists are spoilt for choice when it comes to things to see. A dhow cruise in Dubai offers these interesting landmarks from a waterscape giving you the best opportunity to snap photos whilst leisurely cruising with the added calming effects of the water. A Sightseeing Dhow Cruise in Dubai is a one hour cruise on a traditional Arabian Dhow boat with complimentary refreshments for those wishing to experience the new landscape of Dubai (Dubai Marina) or the heritage of the City (Dubai Creek). Tourists can sit back and relax as the moving view takes over as they sip on a refreshing cold beverage while the day shots of the city pass them by.

The most popular way to do a Dhow Cruise Dubai however is at night. The nightscape offers beautifully lit buildings, gliding dhows passing by which are also lit up by colorful lights, leaving tourists mesmerized with soft music playing in the background. Not only is the Dhow Cruise Dubai catered to tourists looking to catch a night view of the city, but those who want to have a gourmet dinner with a moving view can eat to their hearts content on a Dhow Dinner Cruise in Dubai. Unlimited soft drinks, tea coffee and mineral water, pick and drop service, unlimited international buffet dinner and payable hard drinks at the bar are included for a very economical price.

Even residents choosing a venue for dinner choose to go a on a dhow dinner cruise due to the value for money and the moving view. Most regular restaurants don’t offer you a complimentary pick up and drop service and defiantly not at an economical price!

The new location at the Dubai Marina even offers a special treat to a guest (not available on the Dubai Creek). A belly dance show after dinner is sure to get your blood pumping for the evening!

Dhow dinner cruises are very popular on weekends and holidays, so it is advisable to book your trip before arriving into Dubai to ensure you can book on the day you like. There are fewer than 20 Dhow Cruise Dubai operators with floating restaurants on the Dubai Creek and only 2 Dhow Cruise operators at Dubai Marina. Select a good dhow cruise operator and always check the menu and caterer in advance to ensure you enjoy your dinner as well as the sights before you.

Traverse City is a beautiful place, situated in the Grand Traverse county of Michigan, extending down into Leelanau County. It is surrounded by wondrous beaches, cool people, and all-star accommodations.

The city also has its fair share of culture and attractions. With award-winning chefs and wines positioned on nearly every street, it’s hard not to bump into a world-class meal. The city has gained prominent position in many publications for its wide selection and the great taste of its foods. Among these publications are: Midwest Living magazine, Livability.com, and Bon Appetit. The region’s food is a combination of imagination and enthusiasm. Perhaps its most defining feature is the consistent use of fresh fruits and vegetables grown and harvested from nearby farms and forests. And the city’s vineyards are of the same caliber.

If exquisite food isn’t enough to lure you, perhaps the city’s beaches will do the job. The region has more than 150 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline and almost 150 lakes that are 10 acres or more. Whether you’re looking to spend your time in solitude or in the spirit of companionship, there’s a beach to accommodate you and your family.

With so many things already going for it, you would think there couldn’t be much left to Traverse City, but the city certainly proves one wrong. There is an abundance of cultural attractions to be found in and around the city. You name it, they’ve got: art museums, galleries, historical sites, opera houses, etc. And if you’re a nature enthusiast then you can always take a walk to a nearby forest or trail.

Thousands of tourists flock to the hotels and beaches of Traverse City every year during the summer; some even come during the winter for the many events that occur during that time. It is certainly the ideal vacation destination.

Michigan isn’t the best state in the U.S. right now, especially considering the state of the economy, but Traverse City is still a great place to visit regardless. Visit the city for a great time.

The city lists a ton of cultural and historic attractions on its website. Plus, there are many events scheduled to take place in the coming months. And don’t let the cold weather deter you, the city is just as beautiful in the winter as it is in the summer;and the hotels are cheaper when it’s cold out. I’ll see you there!

At present, there are many people who are having second thoughts on traveling. The global economy has become chaotic and affected most of the wallets and pockets of many countries. It is no wonder why the tourism and travel insurance business are not earning much.

People who decide to travel are now exerting efforts to save. That’s why there are times when important matters are overlooked. Like lack of extra pocket money and worse, forgetting to get travel insurance.

So, to avoid those things from happening and to assure you of a safe trip, here are some steps that would help you get cheap travel insurance.

Assess your budget. Having a good grasp of your budget and possible expenses is necessary in determining how much money you have for the policy. As soon as you know the amount you could allot for the insurance, the next step will just be easy for you.
Identify what kind of traveler you are. Be clear with the reason for your trip. Is it for business, studies or vacation? Whatever it may be you should still purchase a plan. The reason for your travel helps you to discover the kind of insurance that compliments you.
Acquaint yourself with the different kinds of travel insurance then choose. Actually, there are many different kinds of travel insurance. The most popular among them is the package plan. Travel agencies usually offer this kind since it covers almost everything from trip cancellations, lost baggage to hurricanes, storms, etc. Other kinds of plans address specific concerns like health coverage, accidents coverage, or some special cases. For people who travel many times a year, an annual plan should be taken into consideration. In other words, the kind of insurance you should get should depend on your purpose and budget.
Choose some providers to compare. Conduct a travel insurance comparison for you to learn the differences among providers and plans. From there you’ll discover good offers and deals. Then, select which one you’ll take. Keep in mind your budget to be able to choose wisely.

No need to hesitate in getting a plan anymore. Certainly there’s cheap travel insurance that you can get hold of. And then, you don’t have to travel feeling unsafe anymore.

Dubai used to be known as the ‘City of Gold.’ Trading from Iran and India dominated the city’s economy along with dhow building. Dhows are wooden boats which are used for cargo and today also used for tourist activities such as dhow sightseeing cruises and dhow dinner cruises along the Dubai Creek (natural salt water inlet). This is the reason that a Dubai City Tour starts along the Dubai Creek.

Since the past two decades, Dubai has transformed into a cosmopolitan city no longer relying only on trade or even oil. The Sheikhs of Dubai have invested heavily on the city’s infrastructure, building internationally awarded airports, the world’s tallest building, manmade islands, the world’s tallest hotels, and the list is endless. Room inventories from international hotel chains as well as regional chains keep expanding but are never enough for the ever increasing influx of tourists.

A Dubai City tour gives you an orientation to the city, showing you the most talked about sights and attractions. As mentioned earlier the Dubai City Tour commences at the Dubai Creek where you can view where the cities development first started. The City Tour then leads you to the gold and spice souk where you can buy the most sought after quality jewelry and spices from the region.

Crossing the underwater tunnel leads you to Jumeirah, the beach area of Dubai. Here the Grand Mosque ‘Jumeirah Mosque’, beachside boutiques and malls lead you up to the open beach area. The Burj Al Arab used to be the cities icon (the tallest hotel in the world) made with only luxury in mind. A fantastic photo opportunity from the open beach awaits you to treasure the memory even once back home. After this photo stop, the tour guides you to what is known as ‘New Dubai.’ View the enchanting Atlantis hotel in a stunning pink structure sitting proudly at the end of the Palm Island in Jumeirah.

The Dubai Tour would be incomplete without a drive down Sheikh Zayed Road (the City’s highway leading to the Capital Abu Dhabi). The highway is filled with modern skyscrapers showing how the City of Dubai is constantly reinventing itself. Important buildings to look out for include the Mall of Emirates (with the largest indoor ski facility in the world), The Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa (currently the world’s tallest building). The Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall (the largest mall in the region) are both located in Down Town Dubai (the latest and trendiest commercial and residential area in Dubai). The City Tour gives you a chance to explore this massive structure along with the shopping, dining and very unique entertainment facilities the Mall has to offer before ending the Dubai City Tour.
